Last Sunday was terrific! Our church and picnic in the park experiment went better than we expected! Lots of people came out to join us for church at 10:30 AM and then stayed for a great lunch.During the message we broke into small groups to discuss the topic and get to know each other better. I wasn't sure how well that would work but everyone seemed to think it was a highlight of the day. I saw people laughing and sharing with each other all over the grass area. At the end of the message it was incredible to see so many people chose to trust God and rely upon him 100%.
The weather was perfect for the day as we had a high of about 75 degrees and sunny while we were there. Last Thursday, it was 104 and so we began to pray for God to turn down the heat. I think a 20 degree drop in temperature qualifies as an answer to prayer for us!My favorite part of the picnic was watching people sit down to have lunch and talk with each other. Everywhere you looked there were people encouraging one another and connecting. Even those who have attended our church for a while seemed to be making new friends and hanging out together. We had so much fun that it seemed no one wanted to go home. Our family didn't get home until about 3:00 PM, we just loved it!
I also want to take a minute to say Thank You to everyone who helped make Sunday possible. I'd like to say a special thanks to Andrea Hamburg and our worship team! Great job! Joanna Thomas also did an super job with all of the logistics and hospitality for the morning. I also want to say thanks to Rick Kraemer, Ben & Crystal Brown, Amos & Arlene Hoggard, Brent Christiersen, Mike & Terri Murray, Tim & Debbie Zsoka, Travis & Heidi Potter, KC Saunders, Keith Haro (thanks for the chairs!), Don & Beth Tello, Bob Chipman, and Dana Adkins. Each of these people contributed in a great way to make Sunday special! Also, Thank You to Veronica Pouzelos for the photos! Thank you!(You can click on each photo for a bigger printable version).
